People use the terms interchangeably, but they're not identical. A classic martini glass has that sharp V-shape with a long stem. Cocktail glasses are a broader category - coupe, Nick & Nora, even the Aurora Royale here, technically fall under cocktail glasses. If someone says martini glass, they almost always mean the V-shape.

So your hand doesn't warm the drink. Martinis are served ice cold with no ice in the glass - body heat ruins them fast. The stem keeps your grip away from the bowl. Sounds fussy, but you actually notice the difference.

Coupe is more versatile - it works for martinis, champagne, dessert cocktails, and even mocktails. The V-shape martini is specifically for that one style of drink. If you're building a home bar from scratch, a coupe covers more ground. The Gold Rim Coupe here is a solid pick for exactly that reason.

Honestly, 2 is enough for most people - you're rarely making more than 2 martinis at once. The Gold Rim and Ribbed sets come in pairs for that reason. The Salsa Pack of 6 makes more sense if you host regularly or want them for parties.

The stem is the most vulnerable part, yes. Drop it at the right angle, and it snaps. That said, normal use - serving, washing carefully, storing upright - they hold up fine. Don't put them in a dishwasher, and don't stack them.

Absolutely for mocktails. The Swan Glass and Aurora Royale especially look stunning with a non-alcoholic drink, garnished with a lemon twist or a cherry, and nobody can tell the difference. The glass is what sells the experience, not what's in it.
